Adopt a Dog - See available dogs below

BARRC dogs are part of our extended family, we ensure they are sterilised and microchipped.

Our aim is to match the dog to the owner and our adoption service includes post-adoption support and care to ensure success.

Our adoption fee includes a general health check, flea and worming treatment, vaccination, microchipping and desexing.  If the dog is too young for desexing, a voucher is provided.  A 14 day adoption trial period is available when adopting an animal from BARRC.

At BARRC we think of ourselves as one big growing family, thus with every adoption, we gain a new family member. We consider ourselves as supporters of adopters, treating each new addition not only as an individual but as part of our extended family.

We strive to work with owners to be the best pet owners they can be. This means we work with our applicants to ensure we find the perfect pet that fits their individual lifestyle.

Post-adoption support and remaining in touch with adopters plays an important role in trying to ensure that the adoption is successful over the lifetime of the animal.

Bean: Friendly & Active

  • Bean lives with an active female dog and his favourite pass time is inviting her to do mega zoomies around the yard.

  • He’s got a beautiful nature, friendly to adults and children and great with other dogs. He loves leaning on you.

  • Bean is still undergoing some lead training and recall but is responsive to treats and a kind word.  He would love the company of an active family who can commit to ongoing training and socialising.

Orlando: Excitable & Social

  • Untested with cats

  • Excitable boy who sometimes doesn't know his own strength

  • I would probably be fine moving into a home where there's another dog friend.

  • Will you be the Bloom to my Orlando? Like the celebrity human named after me, I'm a handsome man and have won "Bestest Looking Boy" three times running.

  • I'm a gorgeous lad and a bit of a ladies man.

  • I'm a real social butterfly, love meeting new humans and new doggos.

  • Going for walks is sooooo good. It's really important that I get regular walks and exercise otherwise I can get a little energetic in the yard! Love stretching my legs and having a good sniff of the big wide world. It can be a little too exciting for my humans... maybe a little more training to placate some of that excitement.

  • I'll happily cosy up in bed with you or on the floor if that's not how you roll.

  • I'm a pretty independent guy. I don't mind coming and going as I please inside and out.

  • I'll happily cosy up in bed with you or on the floor if that's not how you roll. I'm not a huge fan of being left by myself outside and will endeavour to find a way to you if need be.

Basil.jpg

Basil: On Hold

  • I am a young boy who is learning to trust strangers around my home.

  • I get on great with other dogs and would love the company of a doggy companion.

  • I have not lived with children nor have I met cats before.

  • My foster carer has this to say:
Basil is  a Goofy Love Bug :) This beautiful boy is craving some love and affection. He needs someone that is willing to put in the time to get him trained to his full potential and wont leave him for long periods of time alone. He needs someone tolerant of a young dogs destructive behaviour and will take him on adventures away from the home

Chip2.jpg

Chip: On Trial Adoption

  • I’m looking for some humans who are keen to involve me in their everyday life, I love being around my people and seeing what you’re getting up to!

  • I’m still getting used to the life of luxury. IBM have these things called “toys” which are interesting, but I’m still working out what they’re supposed to do. The human threw one and yelled “fetch” I’m not sure what I was meant to do with that, but I’ll work it out, surely.

  • I know some cool tricks, like sit and stay. I also know how to wait and go on my mat when I’m told. I like to please my people and could probably learn more with someone willing to put the effort in.

  • I don’t enjoy being on my own much. Sometimes I can be occupied with a bone, but I really just want to be with you the most!  I get a little anxious being away from my people, but I’m sure I can learn to part with you when you have human things to do... grudgingly.

Jackie_edited.jpg

Jackie: On Trial Adoption

  • Good with dogs and children

  • Not met cats

  • Jackie is what one would typically describe an Australian Kelpie as: Intelligent, Friendly, Energetic, Eager, Alert and Loyal.

  • This combination of intelligence, friendly personality and energy requires an active home with time to train, socialise and exercise the body and mind.

  • Jackie loves the attention of children though will need to be well trained to not instinctively commence herding them up in the back yard as she gets older and desires more engagement.

  • If you are committed to running, agility and training then you can’t look past this little pocket rocket.

  • Jackie really is a very sweet natured girl with a lot of love to give.

Rocko.jpg

Rocko: On Trial Adoption

  • Beautiful character in this boy

  • I am dog friendly and like kids (though not lived with those under 10)

  • I enjoy chasing cats

  • I may have the urge to mark my territory but after that I am pretty much fully housetrained.

  • My foster carer describes me as having a ‘fat’ time when there are dogs to play with.

  • I do enjoy jumping up for face kisses but am beginning to learn that this is not acceptable.

  • I can't get anywhere fast enough! But I won't pull when on a lead.

Taco.jpg

Taco: On Trial Adoption

  • Taco has been in our care for some time whilst he underwent some additional care, was provided with a nutritional diet to bring his health and condition up and received x-rays to rule out any concerns with his development.

  • He is now ready to adopt and looking forward to finding his perfect home.

  • As with any dog, and in particular, puppies, it is important that the adopter is able to offer Taco training, regular socialising and exposure to as many different things in his community to ensure a well balanced, friendly and well behaved dog.

  • Taco may grow to be quite a big boy and will need gentle exercise until his growing is complete.
